Working together to create a healthier community for the people of Crawford County

Picture
After September 11th 2001, the vulnerability of Crawford County has been a key concern.  In light of this, the Crawford County Health Department is in need of volunteers.  The staff of the health department would not be adequate to completely handle all tasks required in the event of a disaster, either natural or man-made.

A variety of volunteers are needed to be trained and be on call in case of such a disaster. Necessary volunteers include medical professionals, secretaries, errand-runners, crowd control, etc. to help in the staffing of multi area clinics to be set up in the event of  a terrorist attack or natural disaster.

If you are interested and are at least 18 years of age and have transportation, please contact us by phone, in person, or by mail.  We will provide training.  Please join our team with this special project.

An application can be found and printed here:

Organ and Tissue Donation

Organ/ tissue donors save lives, restore sight and improve the quality of life for recipients across Illinois every day. More than 25 people can benefit from a single donor.

Every 10 minutes someone is added to the transplant list
More than half of the national transplant waiting list is made up of multicultural populations
There are more than 5000 Illinois residents on the transplant waiting list
Each year an average of 300 Illinois residents die while waiting on a life-saving transplant

Are you a registered organ/tissue donor??? This flyer can provide you with more information about becoming a donor and also has the registration form that you send in to register as a donor with the Secretary of State.
